Hailed by many for his powerful and emotional performances, Filo has garnered recognition for delivering an experience to audiences that they claim to have never felt before. Most notably, he will be appearing in the 23rd season of American Idol, premiering on March 9th, 2025!

Filo is a soulful singer bringing passion back to R&B with powerful vocals and heartbreaking melodies. He strives to seek the truth in humanity and to unlock the compassionate side of the world. From his formative days in his native Egypt, he has always been fascinated by the beauty of human connection through music. He seeks the joy of collaboration and cohesion through his music with an aspiration to be the light in a world that can often appear cold and dim. 

Throughout his illustrious career, Filo has explored diverse musical genres, spanning classical opera, Mediterranean music, Pop, R&B, and many more. This diverse range of influences enables him to craft a distinctive sound that resonates deeply with listeners, characterized by its vibrancy, soulfulness, and emotional intensity. Filo’s exceptional talent has earned him numerous accolades in national competitions and he has performed across the country. His most cherished experiences, however, have been with Stockton Soul, a soul orchestra dedicated to both entertaining and educating audiences about the rich history of black music in all its forms. Through outreach initiatives, they visit schools and marginalized communities, supporting music departments in public schools, spreading joy, and inspiring the next generation of music lovers. 

Filo’s journey began in high school, where he actively worked locally in musical theater and choral ensembles. His dedication to his craft has earned him a scholarship to the University of the Pacific, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance in 2023, and he has completed a Master’s degree in Contemporary Performances at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain. He was also invited to attend a 3-week intensive program in Germany, studying classical music, as well as a week-long conference with the National Opera Association where he not only performed and competed but also achieved first place recognition for his outstanding portrayal in his university’s production of ‘The Threepenny Opera’.
